All aboard photography course

The Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography offers a cruise ship photography course, reportedly the only one of its kind in South Africa that trains students in three weeks and assists them in finding jobs on board.

It has developed a partnership with one of the largest and most successful international photographic concessionaires, The Image Group, Cayman Islands. Representing over 400 photographers on 40 ships at any given time, this programme has been designed to meet the quality and training requirements and on successful completion of the programme, candidates will have an exclusive opportunity to work for Image.

Georg Strydom, recruitment manager of Image South Africa says, "Since the start of the program in December 2008, over 100 photographers has been trained by the Academy and employed by Image to work as photographers on cruise liners around the globe. The success of South Africans is due to their hard work, dedication and their personalities to work long hours in a multiracial and a mixed nationality environment.

The next three-week full time course starts on 15 November 2010 and is open to students age 21-30. Email Fransien at az.oc.ymedacahcsobnellets@neisnarf or go to www.stellenboschacademy.co.za for more information.
