The Ministry Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) has organised the Annual Agricultural Awards which aims to motivate, recognise and reward outstanding individuals and organisations that have contributed and innovated towards the development of the agricultural sector. These include individuals and organisations that have shown commitment to hard work and development of the sector.1

Slow Food Uganda has worked hard over many years with dedicated volunteers, farmers, chefs, educators and other partners who share Slow Food vision of good clean and fair food. "Our work has paid off as we are now being acknowledged on a national level by this prestigious award nomination.

"We are proud to be part of this movement towards healthier eating habits in Uganda! This nomination serves as an inspiration for us all at Slow Food Uganda and the global Slow Food Movement, as it encourages us further on our mission to protect biodiversity through gastronomy education and advocacy," comments Edie Mukiibi, Slow Food president.

"As Slow Food Uganda, we take this nomination as a big achievement to the entire network both at the local and the international level. It shows that Uganda’s agriculture sector through MAAIF has started appreciating our efforts in transforming Uganda’s Food System," adds John Kiwagalo, Slow Food Uganda program manager. "This Award would be a milestone that will enhance our capacities in our efforts to improve the global food system and the livelihoods of smallscale farmers."
