SABC loses its digital tsar

The SABC's chief technology officer Richard Waghorn, who was responsible for leading the broadcaster's migration from analogue to digital terrestrial television and who has played a pivotal role in the country's move to the new system, has resigned. He leaves the corporation this week.

Waghorn, who joined the SABC in March 2009, was previously distribution controller at the BBC, where he project managed the launch of Freeview, the UK's free-to-air digital terrestrial TV platform.
