Property investors explore new horizons at IPEX SA

The first ever South African International Property Exhibition (IPEX SA) took place at Sandton Convention Centre during April. Targeting a niche market, this property show featured local property investment opportunities as well as international properties for sale in tourist hot spots such as Mauritius, Malta, Cyprus and the UK. Oasys Innovations supplied infrastructure for the event.

The show was a joint venture between Impact Exhibitions Cape Town and Conference and Speakers International based in Mauritius. All property options from time share and sectional ownership to full ownership and development were showcased.

Carl Woodland, Chief Operating Officer for Oasys Exhibitions says it was exciting to work on this property event, especially because it is the first of its kind in South Africa. "The dynamics for this event was completely different from all other shows, as were the stands that had to be designed. We supplied 360m2 of shell scheme package, ten system design stands, registration features and the organisers' office. Furthermore, we supplied all the furniture, lighting, electrical infrastructure and audio-visual equipment."

Says Johnny Malherbe, co-owner of IPEX SA, "As the first fully fledged international property exhibition in South Africa, we hope that IPEX SA will become established as the show to visit for any prospective owners of elite properties, both locally and abroad. IPEX SA 2010 showcased the properties and developments of 70 exhibitors and 1500 visitors attended the show over the three-day period. Most of the visitors were looking to invest in second properties and the selection of overseas properties was especially popular."

The show is a 'one-stop shop' for property investors and also provides access to properties and developments that investors may not have otherwise had the opportunity to consider, especially in terms of opportunities abroad.

Malherbe concludes that the growth of the show is imminent in years to come now that the recession is phasing out. "We are cautiously optimistic about the future of IPEX SA and are already planning next year's event. The first IPEX SA attracted so many quality visitors that it can only predict future growth for the show. Many financial experts believe that property is one of the best investments that one can choose and with the wide variety of properties and property developments on show at this exhibition, it will continue to attract more and more visitors in years to come."
