Euronews launches 24/7 Hungarian service on air and on all digital platforms

LYON, FRANCE / BUDAPEST, HUNGARY: Euronews has launched its 24/7 Hungarian service on air and on all digital platforms. The new channel is distributed across the Euronews European satellite network and by Hungarian broadcasters.

13th language services for 2013

The 13th linguistic service is Euronews' second - following the Greek service launched in December 2012 - to be adapted locally and broadcast from Euronews' HQ in Lyon. The wholly-owned Hungarian subsidiary of Euronews Hungary Kft., located in the centre of Budapest, will soon host the Hungarian editorial team.

The launch of an in-country editorial team is part of Euronews' innovative "Glocal" strategy which aims to strengthen its local presence in keys regions.

The Hungarian Euronews subsidiary is wholly owned by the Euronews group and employs 30 media professionals, including 20 journalists. The new Budapest office will be officially inaugurated during the fourth quarter of 2013 in the presence of all the local Euronews staff. In order to ensure the successful launch of the new edition the Hungarian team is currently working under real-time conditions at Euronews' global headquarters in Lyon, France, before moving to the Budapest office in the near future.

How to receive Euronews Hungarian

Euronews Hungarian is available across the whole of Europe thanks to the Eutelsat Hot Bird 13A satellite. The channel will gradually be integrated into packages on offer through partner networks, whether by cable, satellite and IPTV, or DTT. Euronews is currently already available to 816,000 subscribers in Hungary through major platforms such as UPC Hungary, Maygar Telcom, MinDIG, Invitel, and Antenna Hungary, in English and German, the two most spoken languages in the country after Hungarian.
