Commercials Director Sarel Esterhuizen and Producer Sugnet Toerien have joined Gecko Productions, Cape Town. Their first commercial is already in the can and is presently being flighted on national television.
Sarel Esterhuizen spent eight years as an Art Director at O&M, Cape Town, where he won numerous Loeries and other international awards including a Cannes Gold. In 2002, Esterhuizen started to direct commercials. His portfolio includes various international commercials from India and the African continent and well known brands such as Opal Corsa and LML Freedom Bikes. Locally, he is better known for his retail work.
Sugnet Toerien has solid background in all aspects of filmmaking, having worked at a film equipment house, a crewing agency and at post-production facilities. Sugnet got a solid grounding in commercial production and client liaison while working for the Video Group, Johannesburg and Cape Town. Since then, she has been producing at local production houses while building a solid reputation.
