Liefde by die Dam comes to Cape Town

Liefde by die Dam will be making its debut in Cape Town at the Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville on 17 November 2018. Named after Valiant Swart's famous hit song, the concert aims to serve as a platform to showcase the best local music.

Eight top South African artists and bands will be performing in the lovely picnic-style setting, while popular Afrikaans comedian Schalk Bezuidenhout will be taking on MC duties.

This year’s lineup includes Die Heuwels Fantasties, Francois van Coke, Koos Kombuis, Valiant Swart, Spoegwolf, Tarryn Lamb, Early B, Sunset Sweatshop, and Schalk Bezuidenhout.

Pierre Greeff from Die Heuwels Fantasties, one of the organisers of the event, says: “We have been working towards also bringing this concert to Cape Town and we are very happy that this is now possible. Bring your friends and family and join us for a day of great music, food and good vibes at Meerendal – with the beautiful Winelands and mountains as the backdrop.”

Wimpie van der Sandt, CEO Bok Radio, says that it was an easy decision for them to be on board: “For the past three years, we have systematically adapted our music format to keep up with the changes in the music industry. There have recently been a clear shift and old favourites like Valiant Swart and Koos Kombuis are popular among our listeners. Francois van Coke, Die Heuwels Fantasties and Sunset Sweatshop are all former Western Cape Bokkie Awards winners. We are looking forward to a fantastic day at Meerendal with great names in the South African music industry.”

Liefde by die Dam comes to Cape Town

The Johannesburg Liefde by die Dam event teamed up with Liefde Wen to collect blankets for the less privileged after the concert. They received approximately 800 blankets at this year’s event. The same initiative will also be coordinated at Liefde by die Dam Meerendal. Bring a picnic blanket and leave it behind after the concert; The Liefde Wen team will make sure that the blankets find new homes where needed.

For the day out at the dam, there will be a delicious range of South Africa’s best artisan food traders. Attendees may also bring their own picnic baskets.

Tickets cost R195 and are available at Computicket.
