The life of a Secret Asian Man - Mr Sakitumi

Mr Sakitumi has modestly been doing his talented multi-instrumentalist thing, writing, producing and performing, for some time now. He has been working somewhat behind the scenes and in the shadow of musicians such as Max Normal, Closet Snare, Lark, Krushed and Sorted and many more, so it really is about time that he stepped into the spotlight and released a solo album. "Secret Asian Man" is his debut album and is well worth the wait. It drops tomorrow, 8 June 2011.
The life of a Secret Asian Man - Mr Sakitumi

"This is my first personal offering as an artist, so it really is a biggie for me. I am really excited about it! 'Secret Asian Man' will not be so secret anymore. I'm just glad to be able to put a body of work out there that can document me and my sound at this point in time." Mr Sakitumi.

A minefield of horns and guitar

The title track, Secret Asian Man, is wonderfully illustrative of the album and title, the sneaky track plinkily plonkily creeps forward on tiptoes through a minefield of horns and guitar. A perfect soundtrack to any spy movie. While Mix N Blend's remix of Secret Asian Man is just as delightful, losing some of the top secretive nature of the original, their interpretation struts forth with swagger abundant, featuring Lee Thomson and Ross McDonald on horns.

I am totally in love with track Basshead; it is so pretty it could make you shed a tear. A beautiful mash up of slow minimal vocals, pretty piano and violin.

Magnifreak is a slightly dubby mellow tune featuring some other-worldly operatic vocals.

The last track, Into the Deep, is a sweet little laid-back "meandering river to the sea" kind of a tune. Beautiful.

Extending beyond the dance floor

"It's a listening journey into my world, the kinds of beats and melodies that I'm hearing in my head. It gives them a better picture of me as a producer and what I can also do as a multi-instrumentalist. The album extends beyond the dance floor/club/festival/gig etc. I want listeners to be able to put it on whenever and still be able to enjoy the music." Mr Sakitumi.

Mr Sakitumi is a master of combining electronic elements with live instruments, creating wonderfully soulful, electro dance tunes that are equally pleasurable to chill as well as go crazy to. "Secret Asian Man" is a must-have addition to any self-respecting SA music fan's collection. It will be available through The African Dope store, as well as on iTunes, Beatport, Ingrooves, Trackitdown, Juno, Rhythm Online and many more.
