R500 000 to be won in OFM competition

A competition ending on 12 July, from OFM gives listeners the chance to win R500 000, providing they can get past Smiley du Plessis, possibly the rudest customs official who ever lived, the station recently announced.
R500 000 to be won in OFM competition

Last week, the station introduced the competition to its listeners with a lively advert, which the station says was so effective that the phones continuously rang at the OFM offices - listeners and clients alike wanted to know who Smiley is and how they could enter the competition.

According to Nick Efstathiou, marketing manager of OFM, Smiley du Plessis is not exactly a customs official you'd want to meet face to face. “He's had a bad experience at his fourth birthday party and he's been in a bad mood ever since! He might even be the rudest person you'll ever meet, but he's very well travelled, and this is why we've decided to make him our spokesperson in the competition.”

To enter

Listeners can enter the competition either by entering online or on-air, and they can enter as many times as they like. For the online competition they must register at www.ofm.co.za and identify the tourist attractions Smiley visits. The photo will change every day and entrants will be able to see the following day if they are one of the daily winners of R1000.

For the on-air competition they must go online and choose seven items from the list that they would like to be in their bag. They then SMS “pack” to the competition line and Smiley will let them know if they qualify for the next round. Smiley will then search the bags live on-air and if the seven packed items are on his list for the day, they will win R500 000. Smiley might even reward them with some cash for every item that matches one on his list - it all depends on his mood, of course.
