The metal can and packaging recovery company first got involved in South African Library Week three years ago as part of its commitment to South Africa's national priorities through its dedication to educating the youth.
The annual South African Library Week is celebrated as part of Human Rights week and aims to educate our children about how libraries are making the right to freedom of access to information a reality - a human right they should value and capitalise on.
"We want to encourage all South Africans to read more by creating awareness about the facilities libraries have to offer, which we believe will ultimately improve education," says Zimasa Velaphi, public relations and marketing manager at Collect-a-Can.
"It is important to Collect-a-Can that learners are made aware of the possibilities that reading can unlock," Velaphi explains. "We also realise that when individuals are educated and informed about the importance of preserving their environment, they will become more environmentally responsible citizens."
Collect-a-Can will visit libraries in Soweto, Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban to educate, entertain and expand South African children's minds.
