Top level media meeting in Nairobi

CEOs of media houses, media executives, publishers and editors in East Africa meet this week in Nairobi to discuss the role of the media in the regional integration process.

The East African Community (EAC) in collaboration with the East African Business Council (EABC) is holding a top-level East African media summit in Nairobi on April 27-28. The event is the first of its kind and is intended to raise media awareness and also increase press coverage of the East African regional integration and development process.

The theme is “The Role of the Media in the Regional Integration and Development Process” but the meeting will also provide an opportunity for the development of EAC’s new media strategy towards a more robust media role in the EAC integration and development process.

CEOs of leading Media houses of the EAC partner states will present papers on various themes and topics focused on media development in East Africa and the role of the media in the EAC integration process.

These papers will be followed by discussions by leading media practitioners, researchers and scholars of the region. A media sensitization Workshop on the present state, progress and prospects of the EAC is planned for the second day of the East African Media Summit.
