SL magazine returns

After a two-month break from production, SL (Student Life) magazine has returned under the reins of a new, independent publisher and relaunches with its June 2008 issue. The youth title was previously published by Intelligence Publishing, which sold off most of its titles to Panorama earlier this year.

SL editor Louise Gamble said the break was spent discussing new ideas, moving to new offices in The Media Mill, Johannesburg and finalising the change-over of publishers.

“The move has benefited both the magazine and the previous publisher and we are eager to return as South Africa's favourite student magazine. We have also included some fresh new blood to enhance the editorial team,” Gamble comments.

The June issue marks SL's return in the same format its readers are used to. The issue will be jam-packed with all the current music, movies, student-focused features and fashion, with focus remaining on all the up and coming news in the same funky layout. As an added bonus, the June issue will be launched together with a DVD of all the latest local music videos, from amazing South African bands such as aKing, Goldfish and Desmond and the Tutus.

“We are very excited to be back on shelf and we're not the only ones, our readers have been frantically contacting us, asking about our return. Come early June, SL will be back, and bigger than ever,” Gamble said.

During the break, SL maintained communication with its readers via social networking site Facebook and its website, www.slmagazine.co.za, which is continuously being updated.
