    Bowmans promotes 10 partners

    Bowmans, an African law firm, has promoted 10 senior associates to partner with effect from 1 March 2022.

    New Bowmans partners include:

    Charles Mmasi - Dar es Salaam: Mmasi advises corporations, banks and foreign investors on banking and finance, corporate and M&A issues across the mining, energy, infrastructure, telecommunications and agricultural sectors. He has a BA from Unisa, an LLB (Hons) from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, an LLM from the University of Dar es Salaam and a post-graduate diploma in legal practice from the law school of Tanzania.

    Craig Robinson - Cape Town: Robinson has advised on numerous domestic and cross-border transactions in South Africa and other African jurisdictions as well as other types of corporate and company law and governance matters. Craig has BCom and LLB degrees from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and a certificate in advanced company law from the University of the Witwatersrand.

    Dane Solomon - Johannesburg: Solomon specialises in mergers and acquisitions and general commercial and corporate matters. His experience includes public and private transactional work in South Africa and other jurisdictions in Africa. He also advises on general company law and corporate governance. During his career, Solomon spent approximately three years with Nestle South Africa as in-house legal counsel. He has an LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

    Daniel Mwathe - Nairobi: Mwathe has advised clients on matters ranging from commercial intellectual property to brand protection, trademark registration and advertising. His experience covers software acquisition agreements, e-commerce issues, data privacy compliance and consumer protection law. Daniel has an LLB from Moi University, an LLM from the University of London and a diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

    Francois Trichardt - Johannesburg: Trichardt specialises in investigations and litigation relating to Ponzi, pyramid and multiplication schemes, contraventions of the exchange control regulations and funds misappropriated due to theft and fraud. He has an LLB from the University of Johannesburg and a MPhil (Fraud Risk Management) from the University of Pretoria.

    Jonathan Barnes - Johannesburg: Barnes specialises in commercial litigation and international arbitration. His expertise covers transactional disputes, contractual claims and urgent High Court proceedings. He is also a qualified mediator. Jonathan has BA and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand and an LLM from the University of Edinburgh.

    Nadine Mather - Johannesburg: Mather specialises in employment law. She also has a keen interest in data protection laws and has advised on transferring personal information to holding companies abroad, the sharing of personal information with third parties and the processing of special/ sensitive personal information. Nadine has BA and LLB (cum laude) degrees from Rhodes University.

    Nanga Kwinana - Johannesburg: Kwinana has a wealth of experience advising on cross-border transactions involving companies listed on multiple securities exchanges. He has advised on acquisitions, disposals, empowerment transactions, engagements with regulators, general corporate commercial and governance matters as well as equity capital raising exercises. Nanga has an LLB from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

    Sibusiso Dube - Johannesburg: Dube specialises in employment law. His experience extends to litigation - conducting investigations, representing clients and chairing disciplinary enquiries. He has a further interest in South African football law, where he has represented professional clubs before the PSL Disciplinary Committee and Dispute Resolution Chamber. Dube has BCom and LLB degrees from the University of Johannesburg.

    Simon Kiriba - Nairobi: Kiriba specialises in real estate, construction, conveyancing and conservancy law as well as mergers and acquisitions and banking. He has an LLB from the University of Nairobi, a Certificate of Trial Advocacy from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy USA in conjunction with Kenya School of Law, and a postgraduate diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
